Langham and the beautiful Dedham Vale are favourite places for walkers and visitors alike. There are many footpaths clearly signposted and accessible starting in Langham. Or you may prefer to row along the river Stour commencing at the Boat House Dedham.
Local Ardleigh Reservoir is heavily stocked with most coarse fish including carp to 40lb and pike to 26lb, this can be fished by purchasing a day ticket. The reservoir also has a sailing club.
For golfers, the local courses are: Stoke-by-Nayland (two championship courses). Colchester G.C. Brett Vale-to name but a few.
As well as Colchester`s rich Roman heritage it has individual shops in quaint cobbled streets and alleyways. Market day is Friday, and the town now boasts a Fenwicks department store (West End standard)
